Bord Gáis Energy announce second price cut in four months

Bord Gáis Energy said the price cuts will be automatically applied to customers.

For the second time in four months Bord Gáis Energy has announced a further energy price reduction that will be automatically applied to their 600,000 customers.

The company has said the 10% reduction in electricity, 9.5% reduction gas unit rate and 8% reduction in standing charge from February 29 will save customers hundreds of Euro on energy bills.

The reduction charges means a residential duel fuel customer will save an estimated €331 per annum. Electricity only customers will save €190 and gas only customers €141 per annum respectively.

Bord Gáis Energy said the price reductions will also be available to customers switching to them.

Bord Gáis Energy managing director, Dave Kirwan, said the latest reduction, combined with the price drop last November will result in duel fuel customers saving almost €1,000 per year on their bills.

“Whilst today’s announcement will be welcome news for all customers, Bord Gáis Energy recognises the last 24 months has been particularly difficult for those struggling to meet their bills," said Mr Kirwan.

“We have shown our commitment, through various initiatives, to ease the financial burden on customers throughout the energy crisis and we continue to do so. We urge any customer concerned about their energy bills to get in touch with us as soon as possible,” he added.
