Gardaí in Cork stopped a motorist yesterday who was found to be travelling in a dangerously loaded vehicle, with bald tyres and the wrong licence.
During a routine patrol on Tuesday, members of the Cork City Roads Policing Unit stopped a van which was travelling with an improperly secured and overloaded trailer.
In a post shared on social media, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that “a few problems jumped out faster than the pallets would on a sharp bend”.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, the motorist was found to be in breach of six separate issues.
These included an improperly secured load, an incorrect licence, no sign of routine trailer checks, bald tyres, no safety chain, and no lights.
“Trailers need more than a tow-bar and hope. Secure your load. Hold the correct licence [and] carry out regular safety checks,” the Garda spokesperson added.
"When your trailer isn’t roadworthy, neither are you.”
