Ahead of the mini marathon, we’re bringing you a special podcast, in association with Nourish, with all the information you need in advance of the big day.
Ken Smyth, from Cork Athletics, and Bill Allen, Race Director and Chair of the Cork Athletics Board, joined us to tell us what to expect this year, including how to register, where to find the charity meeting point, and changes to the route.

Sarah Brereton with Naturalife (the Naturalife health brands are available from Nourish Health Stores in Cork) shared advice with us around nutrition and hydration in the lead up to the event.
The Echo Women’s Mini-Marathon brand-ambassador, Brenda Dennehy also joined us in studio to talk about how she first started running, and the unforgettable experience of taking part in the event with her mum by her side.
We also met participants and representatives from some of the charities taking part, including a special Cork lady who completed the marathon to mark a significant milestone.
Irene Healy went the extra mile to support Enable Ireland by taking part in The Echo Women’s Mini Marathon to mark her 80th birthday.
Anne Hegarty has been involved in fundraising for the charity for more than three decades and told us about the importance of the event.
We also heard from Enid Conway, Fundraising and Marketing Manager with Marymount, and Eaine Murphy, Acting Communications and Fundraising Manager with Horizons, about what the event means to Marymount and Horizons respectively.

It is estimated that The Echo Women’s Mini Marathon raises in the region of €1.5m for charities each year, and is one of Cork city’s best-loved sporting and social events.
Registration for this year’s event is open right up until Saturday, September 20.
